What laminate is
Laminate countertops are layers of decorative paper and resin bonded under heat and pressure onto a solid core. Modern printing means today’s laminates can look remarkably like marble, granite or wood, at a fraction of the cost of stone.
It’s the most budget-friendly option we offer and a smart choice for first homes, rentals, basement apartments and laundry rooms. We carry Formica and Wilsonart in a wide range of colours and edge styles.

Laminate edge options
Laminate edges come with the product rather than being cut like stone: a square edge, or a rolled front formed from one sheet. Decorative edges depend on the laminate line, so ask us what’s available for the colour you like.

Good to know before you choose laminate
Everyday care
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild soap.
- Avoid abrasive powders and scouring pads.
- Keep heat and sharp blades off the surface.
Heat
Laminate isn’t heat resistant. Hot pots and appliances like air fryers should sit on a trivet or board.
Knives and water
Use a cutting board, and wipe up standing water around sinks and seams so moisture doesn’t reach the core.
Sinks
Laminate is usually paired with a drop-in sink. If you have your heart set on an undermount, ask us about the options.

Are laminate countertops a good choice for a first home or rental?
Often, yes. Laminate is the most affordable surface we install, easy to clean and available in many stone and wood looks. Read our guide to laminate for first-time homeowners.
Can you put hot pans on laminate?
No. Laminate isn’t heat resistant, so hot pots and pans should always go on a trivet or board.
Which laminate brands do you carry?
We work with Formica and Wilsonart, in a wide range of colours, patterns and edge styles. See samples at our Kitchener and Guelph showrooms.
